At this time the C.H.S. Yearbook was called "The Breeze" and there is no mention of a mascot of any kind,
( the Bison debuted in 1930 ) , though the team is referred to many times as the "Red & Black".
Scores: Opp. /Clearfield
The first game of the season, at home against Windber ( spelled "Windbur" in The Breeze), was played on Sept. 29, 1923 and the final game, at Curwensville, was on Thanksgiving, Nov. 29. Windber is southeast of Johnstown in Somerset County and even today is nearly a two-hour drive. No mention is made of this, but it's not hard to imagine that the Windber team ("The Miners") might have come to Clearfield by rail and may have stayed in Clearfield overnight.
