"Philipsburg-Osceola Forfeits Season, Gives Clearfield Bye Week" ~

below
In the gantnews.com article, writer Dustin Parks
notes that "
For Clearfield, it now gives them a bye
week, as it will be listed as a 2-0 victory in the record
book, and push their season record to 7-2.
Unfortunately, it puts a somber note on what would
be a monumental victory for the Bison football program.  Friday’s game at P-O would have meant Clearfield was playing for its
600th program win.
Now, with the forfeit, that victory comes without
the team ever stepping onto the field.
"
And that reminds me of another Bison milestone that was also affected by the Mounties.
October 7, 2011 was P-O's Homecoming Night and they were hosting the Bison.
Clearfield entered the game undefeated at 5-0 vs P-O's none-too-shabby 4-1 record.

The Bison were hoping to cap the evening by celebrating what would be Coach Janocko's
200th win
at the helm. The Bison had beaten the Mounties in the eleven previous
meetings over sixteen seasons and could reasonably be expected to do so again.
However, it was a game-long seesaw battle that ended with P-O winning 40-33.
(Incidentally, the last time that the Bison lost to the Mounties) ( Pictures )

Tim's 200th win would have to wait until the following week, 175 miles
from home in our only-ever game with Hamburg PA, another see-saw
with Clearfield coming out on top 34-28.

Oddly, Coach's 100th win also occurred a week after playing P-O ( a win
that time though ) with a 44-12 pasting of Shannock Valley in 1999.
Unlike Hamburg, though, playing Shannock wasn't quite a one-time thing.
The Bison also beat them the following year by a score of 38-6 but by that
time they were going by the name of "West Shamokin."
For those out of the loop, the school - by whichever name - is on
Rt 85 in Rural Valley, Armstrong County.
